I’m not sure many of you have been on the look out within the indie game scene, but I have. Much to my delight, a new platformer called Pid graces us with it’s presence. Developed by Might and Delight and published by D3Publisher, this one will be coming to XBLA sometime this year.

The world of Pid is vast and strange, and it’s going to take some cunning and savvy to traverse the many obstacles. You get to see this in the trailer and some of the screen shots below. Honestly, I’m looking forward to this one, as it is one of the few games I will be able to enjoy with my wife playing alongside of me. Yeah, there’s two player co op.

From their E3 Press Release:

Pid is a delightful platformer, set in a world like yours… only different. When a young, clever boy named Kurt is stranded on a strange new planet, it’s up to him to brave this pleasantly strange world to find his way home. An absurdly bizarre adventure unfolds as estranged locals obscure Kurt’s path to find his bus ride back to the familiar.

Nothing is quite what it seems…Featuring an art style all its own, the world of Pid is vast and peculiar. The pastel colors range from mellow inspirations to stunningly vibrant vistas. The inhabitants of this land are even more unique, having been stranded for ages on their own – growing into old, geometric husks of former humanity.

Pid harkens back to oldschool platformers… Everything about Pid is fresh and exhilarating, but that doesn’t mean it forgets where it comes from. Hair-trigger timing, complex platforming and simple concepts like holding jump for greater heights makes for an intrinsic experience.
