As some of us return from vacations, and other take some time to go on vacation, we notice that we have fallen behind on our news posts. Rather than make a million and one posts of news stories, I thought I will post up all the news right here, in one place. Just this once though!
Okay, here we go!
Double Dragon: Neon is going to be released on September 1, for XBLA and PSN for about 10USD. For those of you to young to remember, Double Dragon is one of the original side scrolling beat’em up titles that was originally released in 1987. There were a few sequels, but the series didn’t really come out of the 8-bit era in tact. Yes, there were sequels that ended up on the SNES, but beyond that they weren’t the original anymore. Yes, a lot has happened since then, but who cares there were to many other games out at the time, and I lost myself into the Streets of Rage series… don’t judge me!
Fast forward to PAX East 2012 where it was announced by Reverb Publishing and see a drooling Luke and Jeff standing there with controllers in hand “re-living” their childhood. There is no doubt we are looking forward to this one.
Paradox Interactive releases a bunch of trailers and information about upcoming titles.
Showdown Effect:
I had the pleasure of killing Jeff over and over again in this delightful 2d action death match style game. Their new trailer shows off a new level, and looks a bit more polished since we played it at PAX East!
War of the Roses:
The game that Jeff likes to dangle in Finners’ face like a carrot, War of the Roses has a bunch of new information announced. This multiplayer first person medieval combat game that is down right brutal. For those of you that wished Mount and Blade had a multiplayer death match in it, your wish is granted.
Screw taking an arrow to the knee, lots of people are taking arrows to the face in this trailer!
Impire:
Impire is a dungeon management game that was just recently announced by Paradox Interactive. Being developed by Cyanide Studios, Impire looks like a fun take on the Dungeon Keeper genre of games. There isn’t to much more information about the title out just yet, but I am sure within the coming weeks there will be a ton more and we’ll have it for you.
A Game of Dwarves:
Similar to Impire, which is a bit odd if you ask me, is A Game of Dwarves. It’s a Dwarf management sim in which you need to return your dwarves back to their glory days of their civilization. The trailer tells the unique story about how things came to be.
Dungeonland:
Ever wonder what an amusement park would be like if the sole purpose was to kill all of it’s guests? While sick, twisted and deranged, I have and well there seems to be a game out there just for me! Dungeonland is a co-op action RPG where you and your friends take your adventurers into a crazy murderous medieval theme park. While the other friend, that most people don’t like I guess, plays the evil Dungeon Master who is out to kill all the adventurers and take over the world.
The trailer is one of the more amusing and funny trailers I’ve seen in a while, and NO I wasn’t tortured into saying that. I am looking forward to playing this with Finners and Jeff to make them PAY FOR ALL THE MOCKING!!! MWHAHAHA.. *coughs* oh sorry about that. I got a little carried away there.
tl;dr : There were a lot of games announced and shown off in the last couple of weeks, and there are many trailers out there to watch. The ones above at the ones that peaked my interested and that I am looking forward to!
